The meanings of basic things can get terribly distorted in this life. The importance of things gets exaggerated, overdressed, and inflated, until it becomes difficult to appreciate things for what they are. Take eating, for instance. What it means to eat is simply to nourish the body with food. Yet as simple as this is, look at all the problems we have with eating! Obesity is epidemic. Anorexia and bulimia ravage our schools. Somehow the meaning of things gets perverted. We lost touch with how things really are, and what they really are.
This course is about getting back to the original meaning of important things, like food, sex, and work. You can’t have a meaningful life if you don’t know what things mean.
