Surprise & Hilarity

You ever notice how difficult it is to remember all of the things that we have laughed really hard at?  I mean even the really REALLY hard laughs we have had?  Yet, how easy is it for us to remember the things that have caused us great grief? Just try to make a list of the things you have laughed really hard at. It is not easy. But a grief list comes to the mind quickly (it practically writes itself). 

This may all seem like a sad, sad fact of life.  We may even look at this peculiar reality and suppose that God is sadistic. But, before we start jumping off of bridges and experimenting with opiates, I think we can put a more positive spin on it all. God is not sadistic. You see maybe we remember the grief so vividly so that we can learn and avoid future grief. We forget the things that make us laugh so that when the same type of funny situation or joke occurs again, we can experience it with the same surprise and hilarity that we experienced it the first time.  Life is good and God has a great sense of humor.
